Benefit planned for Lindsey Meier
Posted on May 10th, 2012
Just a few months ago, Lindsey Meier, daughter of Erin and Nathan Sodolak of Sealy and Dustin and Lynsy Meier of Brenham, was just your typical nine year old in the fourth grade. Running and playing with friends and cousins, doing homework, playing with games and toys, watching movies and a love of horses. All that suddenly changed this past December.
Lindsey began throwing up and having severe headaches. After seeing her pediatrician, she was referred to an eye doctor. Her eyes were not focusing together so he thought getting glasses would help her problems. But even after glasses the vomiting and headaches still continued. On Jan. 17, Lindsey was seen by a different pediatrician. (more…)

He was known for cracking jokes and always having a smile on his face. He brought joy to all and meant a lot to numerous people. Darrel was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1999, and, being the strong man that he was, beat the disease each of the four times it came back.
In 2011 he was diagnosed with leukemia and after contracting an infection, spent 18 days in the intensive care unit at M.D. Anderson. Sadly, after giving the fight of his life, Darrel passed away the morning of Dec. 22.

Donate to Komen Race for the Cure
Posted on September 22nd, 2011
In supporting the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in honor of local resident, Gladys Hammermiller, please give generously once again this year in her memory by sending your donations to Thomas Hammermiller, P. O. Box 131, Orchard, TX 77464 (checks made payable to Komen Houston Affiliate) or by donating online at www.komen-houston.org/ Donate/ Gladys Hammermiller before Oct. 1, 2011.
Gladys was always proud to be a part of this community. She was always available to hold a hand or listen to others facing the same challenges; and rarely showed her own pain, suffering, and worries. Her family believes it was the result of research grant programs such as this which allowed Gladys to be a 23+year breast cancer survivor before she lost her fight against ovarian cancer on July 29, 2008.
